The east and west barns are identical apartments on the upper floor of an oak framed building. They are situated on the site of a former hay shed in the heart of Finlaystone Country Estate. The Estate has 10 acres of formal gardens and 300 acres of woodland which visitors can enjoy. There is also a play area in the woods, an animal awareness centre and, for members of Clan MacMillan, an information centre for the clan.
The Chief of Clan MacMillan and his family are actively involved in managing the estate which is open all year round to visitors.
The Estate sits on the south side of the Clyde Estuary just 5 miles west of the Erskine bridge, the gateway to Loch Lomond and the western isles. The ferries to Dunoon and Bute are 30 mins away and the ferry to Arran just a bit further along the west cost. Glasgow is also less than 30 mins away.
